Absolute Quantum Efficiency Measurements Using Correlated Photons: Toward a Measurement Protocol
Correlated photons can be used to measure the quantum efficiency of photon counting photodetectors without ties to any externally calibrated standards. We present a study of measurement systematics aimed at reducing the measurement uncertainties to the 0.1% level, and developing a robust measurement protocol.
متن کاملAbsolute photoluminescence quantum efficiency measurement of light-emitting thin films.
We developed an integrated monochromatic excitation light source integrating sphere based detection system to accurately characterize the absolute photoluminescence quantum efficiency of commonly used polymer light emitting films without using a reference sample. Our methodology is similar to the method reported by de Mello et al. [Adv. Mater. 9, 230 (1997)] In this Note, we show that the absol...
متن کاملToward Quantum-Limited Position Measurements Using Optically Levitated Microspheres
We describe the use of optically levitated microspheres as test masses in experiments aimed at reaching and potentially exceeding the standard quantum limit for position measurements. Optically levitated microspheres have low mass and are essentially free of suspension thermal noise, making them well suited for reaching the quantum regime. Table-top experiments using microspheres can bridge the...
متن کاملCHARACTERIZATION OF Si NANOSTRUCTURES USING INTERNAL QUANTUM EFFICIENCY MEASUREMENTS
Hemispherical reflectance and internal quantum efficiency measurements have been employed to evaluate the response of Si nanostructured surfaces formed by using random and periodic reactive ion etching techniques. Random RIE-textured surfaces have demonstrated solar weighted reflectance of= 3 ‘?XO over 3001200-nm spectral range even without the benefit of anti-reflection films. Random RIE-textu...
متن کاملAbsolute efficiency and time-response measurement of single-photon detectors.
Using correlated photons from spontaneous parametric downconversion, we have measured both the absolute quantum efficiencies and the time responses of four single-photon detectors. Efficiencies as high as (76.4 ± 2.3)% (at 702 nm) were seen, which to our knowledge are the highest reported single-photon detection efficiencies. An auxiliary retroreflection mirror was found to increase the net det...
